This song was written in one of those rare instances where it came to me in a matter of minutes, almost fully formed. It happened while I was messing around with an open tuning on an acoustic guitar. As i was fingerpicking some notes, a melody emerged with lyrics that spilled out and sang well, so i went with it. I recorded it to cassette tape in my East Village apt. When i listened back to the cassette, it appeared that i was trying to say something. I suppose you could say that this song is about aspirations, choices, & consequences.

Saw Steve and John at an anime convention many moons ago. They played live as a full band on Saturday and then came back as an acoustic duo on Sunday morning. Played Steve's stuff recorded with Yoko Kanno from Cowboy BeBop and Wolf's Rain, as well as Crown Jewels greats. They were fantastic to listen to and so nice to meet in person.
